How-to: Darkroom Printing “Merewether Surf Club”

A darkroom print of an image I made recently at Merewether Beach and Surf Club near Newcastle, NSW Australia. Made using 8×10 inch Ilford Multigrade RC Deluxe glossy paper. Traditional silver prints are beautiful. Watching the image form in the developer is like watching the birth of a new life.

Darkroom printing is easy to learn, the hardest part is finding a darkroom. These prints were made at the Rozelle Darkroom, Sydney’s only remaining community darkroom. I last printed at the darkroom (and ran some courses there) in the late 1980s.

I am pleased to be running courses in printing and film developing at Rozelle Darkroom again in 2021.

To learn more about these courses please visit the Rozelle Darkroom web site.
