Ilford FP4 Plus is a medium speed 125 ISO b+w film that has been around a long time. It is available in 35mm, 120 roll and various sheet sizes.
It is very easy to work with and easy to produce high image quality. Just follow the instructions in the official Ilford FP4 Plus Data Sheet. Use one of the recommended developers, don’t use monobath. It can be pushed to 200 ISO or more, but doing so will ruin its characteristic fine grain and high image sharpness. There are far better films that produce better results at higher speeds. FP4 Plus has very fine grain which is barely visible in scans and in prints. I use film because I want the grain so I don’t use slow films often, I prefer to use Ilford HP5 Plus.
Some developers increase or decrease film speed (note that this is not pushing or pulling). Before exposing a roll of film, decide on the developer you will use and set the exposure index accordingly. When I use Ilford FP4 Plus I expose it at box speed 125 ISO and develop in a liquid developer like Ilford Ilfosol 3, Ilford DD-X or Kodak HC-110 for convenience. (It is also very nice, possible even better, in Ilford ID-11.)
